A festive letter from The Cutback
What a year it's been, thank you for all your support in 2025
As we gear up to enter the festive “log-off” season, I wanted to take some time to reflect on an incredible 2025.
Over the past 12 months, The Cutback team has delivered 420 articles, over 700,000 page views and grown our overall subscriber base to 3,000.
We reported on the WSL, Champions League, Euro 2025, WAFCON, hosted three live events and created plenty of conversation in our live chats.
All of this was made possible by you, our amazing community of readers and paid subscribers.
Last year, I launched The Cutback to create something that was missing for women’s football fans. A media destination where you could find analysis about your favourite teams and players, but also a community, where you could share thoughts and opinions. The idea was independence, a platform that wasn’t dictated by men’s football editorial decisions or budgets. A place where the sole focus was the women’s game.
Looking back on this past year, I can confidently say we did just that and I want to thank you all for showing your support, by hitting subscribe, reading and sharing articles, or joining in our live chats. You are The Cutback community and we’re here to deliver what you want to read.
All of our work is made possible by paid subscriptions, so if you would like to help support our work then upgrade to paid. You not only keep our independent publication growing, but you get access to all of our articles, live chats, ticket giveaways, and even a discount code for women’s sports apparel website Foudy’s.
We actually have a special Christmas offer running at the moment.
Next year, we have big plans, some of which I can’t talk about just yet, but will be huge for our long-term future.
One of the things I’m most excited about is our video output in 2026. We know that there is a massive lack of conversation around live matches. Next year, we’ll be delivering some regular live watchalongs for the WSL, League Cup and Champions League to elevate the traditional at-home viewing experience for our readers and women’s football fans around the world.
We want The Cutback to be the destination for women’s football conversation and there’s no better place than during a live game. You can subscribe to our YouTube channel now so you’re ready to go when the first livestream drops next year.
We’re not taking a complete break over Christmas and New Year, we’ll be publishing some mid-season reviews, a best of 2025 and what to look forward to in 2026. We’re also going to be releasing some more of our WSL tactical deep dives and some special pieces for all the EAFC players out there.
You’ll see these articles drop on the website and in your inboxes across the next two weeks, but for now, I want to wish all of you an amazing Christmas, Hanukkah or however you’re spending this period, I hope you get some rest and recovery.
Thanks for your amazing support.
