Aggie Beever-Jones: Every single person wants to be on the pitch, but there's a bigger picture
England's top goalscorer on new ambitions and what she learned from a supporting role at the Euros

Aggie Beever-Jones was England’s top goalscorer in 2025, with six in 10 appearances. She was also leading scorer for Chelsea in the WSL, finishing the 2024-25 campaign with nine goals, and has started this season even faster, with four goals in six games –the joint second-highest in the league so far.
For most players, those statistics would be enough for a guaranteed place at international level, but Beever-Jones has been forced to be patient during her time in Sarina Wiegman’s England setup.
The 22-year-old forward did not receive her first senior call-up until the summer of 2024, and her first start came in May of this year when she scored a hat-trick against Portugal at Wembley.
It used to be a question of whether the youngster would get minutes for her club, but since Sam Kerr tore her ACL in January 2024 and Mayra Ramirez and Lauren James have struggled with injury, Beever-Jones has become one of the most relied-upon attacking players in Sonia Bompastor’s Chelsea lineup.
She played in all Chelsea’s WSL games last season, starting 12, and has started all six so far in this campaign. This is the first season in which Beever-Jones has started so many consecutive games, but she says her body feels good despite the increased intensity.
Heading into Euro 2025, Beever-Jones knew she would be a backup, as Wiegman had made it clear to every player what their role would be in Switzerland.
