How Chelsea dominated large spells but fell short against Arsenal

Analysing another frustrating and chaotic night for Sonia Bompastor, that ultimately ended with Chelsea exiting the UWCL

Despite a chance-filled performance and a 1-0 win over Arsenal on the night, Chelsea couldn’t overturn the 3-1 deficit from the first leg, and fell just short at Stamford Bridge after a chaotic final few minutes on Wednesday night.

Chelsea approached the second leg exactly as expected: aggressive, front-footed,
and determined to overturn the two-goal deficit. From the opening minutes, their
pressing intensity set the tone for a game that quickly became stretched and
transitional, with both sides attacking the spaces left behind.

Arsenal, in response, looked to defend strongly and exploit those spaces in transition immediately, particularly down Chelsea’s right defensive channel.
