In the final round of WSL fixtures on Saturday, Manchester United faced Arsenal with a second-place finish in the league table up for grabs.

Going into this game, United were winless in three league games with draws against Manchester City and West Ham and the home defeat to Chelsea. With Champions League qualification for next season already secured, there was a sense that it might be a lacklustre and monotonous affair at the Emirates, with both teams having big finals in the coming weeks.

However, this game was far from dull with Arsenal coming out on top with a 4-3 victory. United haven’t conceded more than two goals in a league game all season, so what went wrong for Marc Skinner’s side?
