Listen quietly, and you will hear the sound of the Lionesses roaring back into life.

As fans bounced up and down and renditions of ‘Sweet Caroline’ rang out in Stadion Letzigrund, England thrashed the Netherlands 4-0 on the second matchday of Group D at Euro 2025.

Lauren James opened the scoring with a quintessential edge-of-the-box strike on her left foot in the 22nd minute. The Chelsea forward was starting on the right wing, rather than as the ‘No 10’, and looked freer as a result. The Netherlands failed to pick up her inverted runs.
