England through to Euros final as super-sub Kelly breaks Italian hearts
Wembley 2022 matchwinner has last word again after Michelle Agyemang rescues Sarina Wiegman's side

England are through to the Euro 2025 final after beating Italy 2-1 in extra time in Geneva in another nerve-shredding knockout tie.
Chloe Kelly’s finish, after her 119th-minute penalty had been saved, sealed another unlikely comeback win for the holders.
The Lionesses were minutes away from heading out of Euro 2025 until Michelle Agyemang once again rescued the side, scoring a 96th-minute goal to send the game into extra time.
A goal from Italy’s Barbara Bonansea in the 33rd minute gave Italy the lead, and it seemed as if the 13th-ranked side were going to pull off one of the biggest shocks in Euros history.
The Italians dug in, managed the clock and frustrated England, all while Sarina Wiegman toiled on the sideline, trying to find a plan to turn the tie around.
Wiegman’s first change came at half-time, Beth Mead introduced for a limping Lauren James. The substitution had little impact on England’s fortunes and the disconnect continued across their attacking line.
It wasn’t until the 77th minute that Wiegman made another change. This time Georgia Stanway exited for Chloe Kelly, with Agyemang and Aggie Beever-Jones arriving as the final Hail Mary in the 85th minute.
As the game moved into stoppage-time, there was no sign of any England comeback. Much like the quarter-final win against Sweden, there was absolutely no rhyme or reason to their revival. The performance was poor, the chances were limited and the players all look exhausted.
