The day has finally arrived — happy first day of the Uefa Women’s Euro 2025!
After months of anticipation, the battle between Europe’s top 16 women’s national teams officially kicks off today. It promises to be four weeks of a celebration of football filled with passion, entertainment, and fierce competition.
I’m Réshma, and I’m going to be doing The Cutback’s daily newsletter throughout the tournament. I’ll be keeping you updated on the results, players, news stories, and basically everything you need to know about the Euros!
I’ve played and watched football for as long as I can remember, but I love writing about it even more. I love that football has the power to create a sense of community and belonging amongst fans and players, and I am passionate about increasing representation to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to play the sport.
I think it is an incredibly exciting time for women’s football at the moment, and I’m looking forward to this tournament and what it will mean for women’s sport in the future.

Thankfully, she was released from hospital after missing Spain’s 3-1 win over Japan.
Meanwhile, England’s Lionesses have also touched down in Switzerland. Although they won’t play until Saturday against France, they made their own statement on Sunday when they emphatically beat Jamaica 7-0 in their final warm-up match.
