Geyse incident puts United under the microscope as new details emerge on Boe Risa's exit
Manchester United and Skinner under pressure again after Brazilian winger's social media statement
In the last 24 hours, news has been circulating around Brazilian winger Geyse and a potential move away from Manchester United.
United beat Leicester City 2-0 at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday afternoon with goals from Melvine Malard and Leah Galton. The victory saw United move within five points of leaders Chelsea after their draw with Brighton. However, all the talk post-game has been about Geyse, who only came off the bench in the final few minutes against Leicester.
Not long after the final whistle, Geyse posted a statement on Instagram, writing: “Staying in a place where we don’t feel happy is an agonising and lonely feeling. Every day seems heavier, and the simple fact of being there becomes a burden. The environment, which should be welcoming, becomes a field of discomfort, where inner peace is difficult to find”
It continued: "Sometimes, the desire for change arises as an urgent need, but the fear of the unknown or insecurity about the future can paralyse us. However, it is essential to remember that we deserve to be in places and situations that bring us happiness and fulfilment. That's the only way we can grow."
Geyse did not directly reference Manchester United, but fans quickly took to social media to express their concern for the player, who had recently been in Brazil following the shock death of her brother in January. Since returning from compassionate leave, the forward has had limited minutes for United.
Geyse’s agent Luis Filipe Silva then told The Telegraph that United had attempted to send Geyse on loan while she was in Brazil.
