After recent struggles on questionable pitches, the phrase "home is where the heart is" has never rung more true from an Arsenal perspective.

The Emirates pitch ­– colloquially referred to by fans as the carpet - was a welcome sight, with high hopes that Arsenal could deliver some blows of their own to opponents who have, in the last fortnight, been able to make the most of tricky conditions at the Gunners' expense.

Arsenal went into this game having scored 19 goals in their last five matches at Emirates Stadium, conceding just once, and they would add another four to their collection during Liverpool's visit to north London.
