Sweden had initially gone 2-0 up in the first half, but the holders came back to level the game and send it to extra time. In the end, nothing could separate the two sides, who both missed the majority of the 14 penalties that were taken.
Having endured a sluggish start, England were punished by a tactically savvy Sweden. Organised pressing and runs-in-behind saw them coast into an early lead thanks to goals from Kosovare Asllani and Stina Blackstenius. Wiegman's second-half subs turned the tide to reignite England's Euro 2025.
