How to watch and follow England’s quarter-final clash with Sweden at Euro 2025
Kick-off time, broadcast and team news
England are getting closer to potentially retaining their European crown heading into the quarter-final stage of Euro 2025.
They face a familiar foe in Sweden, the pair meeting for what will be the 10th time in this tournament alone on Thursday (17 July).
Euro 2022 was the last time they faced off, England running out 4-0 winners en route to lifting the trophy.
Despite recency dominance, though, it is Sweden who have the better overall record between these sides on the European stage, winning four of nine meetings while three draws have been contested.
More recent encounters involve a 1-1 stalemate in Euros qualifying last year, followed by another draw—this time goalless—some months later.
Sweden’s last win against the Lionesses dates back to 2019, pipping them to third place at the World Cup.
Both sides come into this tie in fine form.
Sarina Wiegman’s side bounced back from an opening game defeat to France in emphatic style, as the Netherlands felt the full wrath of their woes in a 4-0 rout.
England followed that up with a 6-1 showcase against Wales, setting themselves up well for what will be yet another tough test in the competition.
Thursday’s opposition are flying, arguably looking in their best form in recent memory.
Sweden cruised to the knockouts with three wins from three, the most impressive of which saw them bury Germany in a 4-1 victory.
Each of these nations have proven they can be ruthless and cut-throat in front of goal, meaning defenders will have to be on their toes. The Scandinavians have the best defence record of the competition so far, conceding just once.
It is a finely poised affair, with the pendulum touted to swing in either direction.
