La Maga: Here's what makes Jacqueline Ovalle such a special player
As a historic transfer to the United States and the NWSL emerges, here's a reminder that the Mexican star is worthy of the hype

There is magic in the Northeast corner of Mexico. And soon — if reports are to be believed — that sorcery will be on its way to Florida.
Since 2017, winger Lizbeth Jacqueline Ovalle has been known as ‘La Maga’ (The Magician) for the incredible feats she has performed for her club UANL Tigres in LigaMX Femenil.
Many stars have passed through the foot of the Cerro de la Silla mountain and played on the grass of Estadio Universitario, but the brightest of them all may well be Ovalle.
Tigres is Mexico’s most esteemed club, with six championships since LigaMX Femenil began in 2017. Ovalle played on all six of those title-winning teams and, at still only 25, is Tigres’ all-time leading goalscorer with 136 goals in 294 matches.
