Manchester United season review: No trophies but back in Europe
United returned to the Champions League and made another cup final. Has this season been a success?
The 2024-25 season was up and down for Manchester United.
The campaign started with an impressive eight-game unbeaten run in the WSL and climaxed in dramatic fashion with United securing European football against rivals City in a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford in May.
United also experienced another FA Cup final at Wembley, a third consecutive appearance. That final ultimately ended in defeat against Chelsea, but all was not lost as the team then headed to Portugal and claimed $1 million as runners-up of the inaugural World Sevens event at the end of May.
United’s season was full of those impressive highs, including a 4-2 victory in the Manchester derby, but also had disappointing lows, like double defeat to Chelsea in the league and a 4-3 humbling against Arsenal on the final day.
There’s been plenty of uncertainty this season, especially around the future of head coach Marc Skinner and key player contracts. It wouldn’t be a United season without that. Here’s a look back at the 2024-25 campaign.
