Park and Clinton in huge swap deal as City and United set to exchange players
The deal will see Jess Park head to Manchester United while Grace Clinton will join Manchester City
Manchester City’s Jess Park is set to join rivals Manchester United with Grace Clinton heading the other way in a huge WSL transfer deal, The Cutback can reveal.
The Cutback understands that the deal also sees each club receive a transfer fee.
The pair had been linked to moves just days before the WSL transfer window closes on Thursday 4 September.
Park’s move gathered momentum on Wednesday when the 23-year-old underwent a medical at United. Meanwhile, Clinton, who only has one year left on her United contract, had been linked to a move to City several days ago.
Manchester United finished third in the WSL last season, occupying the final Champions League qualifying spot. City will be hoping to improve on their fourth-placed finish last season and will begin their campaign against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Friday night. It will be the first game in charge for new manager Andrée Jeglertz.
This summer, City have also added highly-rated Canadian defender Jade Rose and Swiss teenager Iman Beney to their squad.
United have signed Fridolino Rolfo from Barcelona and Swedish star Julia Zigiotti Olme.
As a MUFC fan I'm thrilled to see the club finally stop letting great players go on a free transfer. Good luck to Clinton. She's been great (surprised Spurs didn't come back i for her), but at least this deal makes commercial sense in terms of money.
I'm not really expert but this doesn't make much sense to me!
