Having made her international debut in 2015, not many in the Wales squad have waited as long for a major tournament appearance than defender Rhiannon Roberts.

As she stepped onto the pitch in the Austrian city of St. Pölten to make her first senior start, nothing could have prepared Roberts for the journey that she was about to embark on.

The defender, who has just been released by Spanish side Real Betis, experienced a couple of tricky games early in her international career, but even though there were plenty of tough times, she could see the positive steps that the nation were taking.
