Géraldine Reuteler and Alayah Pilgrim scored in the second half to fire Switzerland to their first Euros win since 2017.

Iceland became the first side to be knocked out of the 2025 Women’s Euros while the hosts secured their first win at the tournament since beating Iceland in 2017.

Pia Sundhage has fielded two of the youngest starting lineups at the Euros this edition. Their lineup against Iceland featured youngsters like Iman Beney and Sydney Schertenleib and had an average age of 25 years and 20 days. The youth and the veterans combined to create both the goals for the Swiss in this game.

Iceland had their share of struggles with chance creation from open-play. Most of their threat originated from set-pieces and Sveindis Jónsdóttir’s long throw-ins. Defensively, while they kept a lid on Switzerland for large parts, it was all undone by a couple of moments of brilliance.
