Uefa Women's Nations League preview: How to watch and follow England live
England must win against Portugal and Spain to make it to the knockout stage of the Nations League
England are back in Uefa Women’s Nations League action this week as they look for a return to winning ways.
Sarina Wiegman’s side were beaten 3-2 by Belgium in their last outing, leaving them second to Spain in the League A3 standings.
Their upcoming fixtures will provide critical preparation ahead of the European championships in July, with just three games on their agenda between now and then.
Ahead of the Lionesses return to the international stage, here are the key things you need to know.
Uefa Women’s Nations League: England return to action
England will return to Wembley Stadium for the first time since February when they welcome Portugal to London on Friday 30 May. The pair met in the opening match day of this year’s Nations League, with Alessia Russo opening the scoring inside 15 minutes. Kika Nazareth equalised late in the second half, but the FC Barcelona forward will not be involved this time around having suffered a season-ending injury in March.
Four days later (3 June), the Lionesses will take on Spain away from home as they look to close the gap at the top. In the reverse fixture, it was Wiegman’s side who earned all three points courtesy of s Jess Park strike. Spain responded by winning their next two games against Portugal, putting four past them away before thumping them 7-1 at home.
England have been boosted by the return of mainstay stars to the squad after spells on the sidelines, with Alex Greenwood, Georgia Stanway, and Lauren Hemp all back in the mix for the next two games. There’s a first senior call-up for Tottenham defender Ella Morris, while Chelsea forward Lauren James remains out with injury.
The players selected for these clashes effectively have two chances to show why they should be in Wiegman’s squad for Euro 2025, making this arguably the most important international window of the year thus far.
