Wider issues for injury-hit City as United take Manchester bragging rights
City's hopes of a successful season look to be ending with a whimper as United take advantage of rivals' problems to become Manchester's leading team
Here’s a list for you: Vivianne Miedema, Jill Roord, Bunny Shaw, Lauren Hemp, Alex Greenwood, Laura Blindkilde-Brown, Aoba Fujino, Rebecca Knaak – oh and, the latest addition, Mary Fowler.
A full set of outfield players who would feature in a fairly formidable side. The only problem for Manchester City is that this was not 10 of their starting XI against Manchester United, but their list of injuries.
Fowler was forced off in the first half, but the other nine were never going to play any part. When Miedema was ruled out for the rest of the season, it felt like the final chance City had of winning silverware was gone before they had even begun Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final.
