Exclusive: Women's Football Show not returning to BBC for 2026-27 WSL season
Long-running highlights show has been scrapped in place of new offering.
The Women’s Football Show, the Women’s Super League’s weekly highlights show will not be returning for the 2026-27 season, The Cutback can reveal.
BBC Sport had been airing the show since 2013, with the production costs covered by the WSL, and previously the Football Association before England’s top two tiers became independent under the governance of WSL Football in 2024.
Multiple sources told The Cutback that viewing figures for the show, which aired on linear BBC television and BBC iPlayer, had not increased last season and it was decided that production costs would be better served creating a new show for fans.
As part of the agreement for the Women’s Football Show, the BBC provided talent, pundits and presenters, but the costs of production were covered by the WSL. The show was also distributed on the WSL’s YouTube channel.
The Cutback understands that highlights of WSL and WSL2 games will still be available on the WSL’s YouTube channel this season.
BBC Sport has told The Cutback that its coverage plans for the season will be announced soon.
The WSL and WSL2 seasons kick off on 4 September.
