What happened last season?
The domestic season couldn’t have gone any better for Chelsea. Games were dominated, records were broken, and trophies were won. They became the most successful team in WSL history, racking up 60 points in a season for the first time. However, they faced a similar level of dominance when they faced Barcelona in the Champions League, losing 8-2 on aggregate. This exposed the fact that despite their perfect domestic form, Bompastor’s Blues still had a long way to go before showing that same level of dominance on the European stage.
